My place in the sun

Jumping on the 3DS train

My feed lately seems to have been swamped by endless "mod your 3DS", "do more with your handhelds" etc. and to be honest, I'm loving it. It's reminded me of an era where I looked forwards to gaming, it felt like some sacred hours (probably in part due to the time restrictions posed by my parents as a child, "no video-games during weekdays" and such). I had already modded my old DSi, but not my 3DS: I've decided to reclaim my 3DS and replay some of the titles I loved (looking at you mario&luigi), and also play some classics that I was perhaps too young to appreciate.

a wonderful 3DS

so much nostalgia

Modding a 3DS has never been easier. Thanks to the folk at 3ds.hacks.guide, hacking the handheld requires nothing more than a 2GB SD card, an internet connection and 15 minutes of your life. Seriously. I had initially planned on making a whole blog post on my experience with hacking the console, but it's unnecessary as the process is super streamlined.

An important ground rule I've told myself is not to become overly frivolous in installing roms and games. What I mean by this, is actually play the games I already have - sounds obvious but sometimes when you have it all you have none. The next step is to fully customise my 3DS, custom backgrounds, maybe startups, UI (tbh I quite like the default)... but also not become too caught up in customising it and actually playing on the console!

In the meantime, I'll be enjoying playing "Zelda - Ocarina of Time 3DS" again. I've been enjoying the slower pace of play, and actual dungeons (unlike in BoTW lmao).

This marks another baby step towards separating the concerns in my life.
